Consultation

28 October 2025

Dear All

Consultation – Barton Court Grammar School’s Admissions Policy September 2027

The Directors of Barton Court Academy Trust have today, Tuesday 28 October 2025, announced their intention to launch a consultation which will last until Tuesday 9 December 2025 at 5pm.

Publicly funded schools are required to consult interested parties if either (i) the school plans to alter their admissions arrangements or (ii) there are no changes to a school’s arrangements you need to consult at least every seven years.

Please be advised that there are no changes to the admissions oversubscription criteria to Barton Court Grammar School or to our Sixth Form. However, if you want to make any comments, then please complete the attached response form.

For clarity we have made it easier for parents to know if their child is eligible for ‘Pupil Premium’ by providing a link in the Supplementary Information Form of the Admissions Policy document (attached) to reflect the current criteria which is also detailed below:

Please see the information below and the notes section on what evidence you will need to provide. You may find the following link helpful: . Your child may be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)

Comments can be made by completing the attached response form, in writing or by email to consultation@bartoncourt.org or by post to Mrs M Aitken, Clerk to Governors, Barton Court Grammar School, ÀÇÎѵ¼º½, CT1 1PH.

Alternatively, simply click on:  and complete the form online.

Please note that the PAN for entry at age 11 remains at 150.

Yours faithfully

Mr J Hopkins
Headteacher
